平时看合同法的书，会经常见到这个词的英文。一打眼知道什么意思，就过去了。等到真要翻译了，好像有好几个英文都可以，一时拿不准了。
好像是standard contract？还是standardized contract？好像还有一个form contract。又或者是adhesion contract？
还有没有别的译法？
没办法，只好停下来慢慢去检索，一一查证。下面这篇文章，就写一下

Standardized contract
这个词可以在《布莱克法律词典》（“布莱克”）检索到，说明是可以用的。
但布莱克没有解释，将其跳转到standard-form contract。于是再去查这个。
Standard-form contract
下面是布莱克的解释：
A usu. preprinted contract containing set clauses, used repeatedly by a business or within a particular industry with only slight additions or modifications to meet the specific situation. ? Because standard-form contracts usu. favor the drafting party, they can amount to adhesion contracts. Often shortened to form contract. — Also termed standardized contract.
从这个解释可以看出，standard-form contract就是我们所说的“格式合同”。
它还可以缩写成form contract。
它与standardized contract属于同义词，所以standardized contract也是“格式合同”。
值得注意的是，并非所有standard-form contract都是adhesion contract，只有在有利于起草方时，才构成。
我们再来看adhesion contract。
Adhesion contract
A standard-form contract prepared by one party, to be signed by another party in a weaker position, usu. a consumer, who adheres to the contract with little choice about the terms.
从释义可以看出，adhesion contract是standard-form contract的下位概念。
如果standard-form contract是“格式合同”，adhesion contract是格式合同的一类，也就不能用来翻译“格式合同”。

除此之外，我还检索了《美国第二次合同法重述》和一本英文合同法的著作，结果如下：

除上面例句外，全书其他部分还多次出现这个词。

最后，我们做下总结：
格式合同的标准译法有两个，一个是standard-form contract，一个是standardized contract。
没有见过“standard contract”这种说法，“标准合同”，大概容易产生歧义吧。
Form contract是standard-form contract的缩写，除上下文明确外，不建议使用。
Adhesion contract是一种格式合同，不能用来代表全部格式合同，也不适合用作格式合同的英文译法。
